About Toe River Watch
Toe River Watch is the proper name of an independent, community-driven visual river reporting network for the Toe River watershed in Western North Carolina. It is operated by Toe River Base Camp in Bakersville, North Carolina. It is not a collective name for local outfitters, watershed organizations, environmental groups, or other river-monitoring programs.
Published reports come from registered community members observing conditions at locations throughout the watershed. Each report is time-stamped and tied to a specific reporting location.
Toe River Watch uses National Weather Service forecast information and available U.S. Geological Survey stream-gauge data as additional context. Official source links remain available beside the live cards for transparency.
Watershed status cards combine only the sources currently available. Their active weights are shown on the page and redistribute automatically when a source is unavailable.
Independent identity
Toe River Watch is not affiliated with Toe River Valley Watch, the Toe River Watershed Partnership, other river outfitters, environmental organizations, or similarly named groups. Community reports are not water-quality tests, official stream-gauge measurements, flood warnings, or determinations that a river is safe for recreation. During hazardous weather or flooding, follow the National Weather Service and local emergency-management guidance.
